The Hunt is on! Every year on May 24th National Scavenger Hunt Day happens. In the United States, this is a perfect time of year. The weather is warmer and the nights are getting longer.
A scavenger hunt is all about hunting for a list of things/items or solving a series of clues. This can be done on foot or by car. (Usually, it is called a road rally in a car.) However you choose to do it, that’s great, just do it! It is all about the hunt and having fun!
The best length of time for a foot scavenger hunt is 30 minutes. A car scavenger hunt can be longer. Base this on how far people have to travel for the items or clues and traffic.
My neighbors are big road rally/scavenger hunt people. One year they celebrated the husband’s birthday with a road rally. His name is Ross. One of the clues took us to the Ross store. We had to have proof of us there by taking a picture. So much fun! He also loves Home Depot. Yep, another picture of us there at Home Depot.
I’m a big Amazing Race fan. I have faithfully watched it every season. I love the different detours, roadblocks, and watching the couples interact. For my oldest daughter’s 15th birthday, she wanted an Amazing Race party. We had so much fun. One clue led the different groups to the neighbor’s swimming pool. Another led them to the backyard of a friend’s house where they had to weigh out their food for dinner and eat it. All in all, a great time.
You can have your hunt be as simple or as elaborate as you want. I’m including a scavenger hunt idea for you, A Trip Down Memory Lane. The entire scavenger hunt can be done in your home or apartment. All you need is a front door, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, and coat closet 😊.
What have been your favorite Scavenger hunts? Where have they taken you? Did you try the Memory Lane Hunt?
